I Inter-Class Moot Court Competition

Patel Law College successfully organized its 1st Inter-Class Moot Court Competition on 10th and 11th January 2024. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of both 3-year and 5-year LL.B. programmes, showcasing their advocacy and research skills. The competition concluded with Team 01 emerging as winners and Team 06 as runners-up.

II Inter Class Moot Court Competition

Patel Law College successfully hosted the 2nd Inter-Class Moot Court Competition on 29th and 30th December 2024 at the PGI Seminar Hall. The event aimed to enhance students’ advocacy, research, and courtroom presentation skills through simulated court proceedings. Participants argued on a contemporary legal issue concerning deepfake technology and digital privacy, showcasing impressive legal reasoning and professionalism. The competition concluded with an award ceremony recognizing excellence in memorial drafting, research, and oral advocacy.

Patel A. Ramaiah Memorial 1st National Level Moot Court Competition – 2025

Patel Law College, Bengaluru, under the aegis of the Patel Ramaiah Educational and Cultural Trust, successfully organized the Patel A. Ramaiah Memorial 1st National Level Moot Court Competition from 9th to 11th May 2025. The event was organized by the Moot Court Committee of the Department of Law and served as a dynamic platform for aspiring law students to refine their advocacy, research, and analytical skills through simulated courtroom experiences.

The competition witnessed overwhelming participation from leading law institutions across India, with 29 teams registering and 24 teams competing after the preliminary screening. Each team comprised a pair of mooters and one researcher, representing reputed institutions such as Osmania University, KSLU Hubballi, Sastra Deemed University, Christ University, and others.

Day 1: Inauguration and Preliminary Rounds

The event commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony graced by dignitaries, faculty members, and participants from various states. Mr. K. Mayilsamy, Principal, Patel Law College, delivered the welcome address, while Mr. R. Sampath Kumar, Chairman, Patel Group of Institutions, emphasized the importance of mooting in legal education and paid tribute to the legacy of Shri Patel A. Ramaiah. The draw of lots determined the matchups for the preliminary rounds, followed by Preliminary Round I, where participants presented their arguments before esteemed judges. A Researcher’s Test was also conducted to assess the legal research and drafting abilities of the participants.

Day 2: Quarterfinals and Semifinals

Based on cumulative scores from memorials and oral presentations, eight teams qualified for the Quarterfinals, which were judged by experienced advocates. The Semi-Finals, judged by retired district judges, showcased remarkable advocacy and legal reasoning as the participants debated the constitutional dispute between the State of Malayan and the Union of Sardia, focusing on the Governor’s delay in giving assent to bills and the principle of cooperative federalism. Two teams advanced to the final round after a series of intense arguments.

Day 3: Finals and Valedictory Ceremony

The Grand Finale was judged by an eminent panel comprising:

  • Hon’ble Justice N. K. Sudhindra Rao, Former Judge, High Court of Karnataka, and Chairman, Karnataka State Police Complaints Authority
  • Hon’ble Justice Ashok G. Nijagannavar, Former Judge, High Court of Karnataka, and Member, Law Commission
  • Hon’ble Justice T. G. Shivashankare Gowda, Former Judge, High Court of Karnataka

Both finalist teams displayed exemplary knowledge, composure, and command over the subject. The competition concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony where winners and outstanding participants were felicitated.

All participants received certificates of participation. The distinguished panel of judges and dignitaries appreciated the professionalism, preparedness, and advocacy skills displayed by the participants.

The Patel A. Ramaiah Memorial 1st National Level Moot Court Competition was a grand success, embodying the spirit of legal scholarship and competitive excellence. It provided a valuable opportunity for budding legal professionals to engage in critical discourse and experiential learning.
The event also reaffirmed Patel Law College’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, practical legal training, and the holistic development of law students.
